Church Hurt or People Hurt

CHURCH HURT OR PEOPLE HURT?

There is a lot of talk on social media lately about Church Hurt. Initially, I was not going to voice an opinion about this subject. However, I will share this message for those who have experienced hurt in the church. So let us get started.

I recognize that many have been hurt by the religious community. That is nothing new. What is this “church hurt or people hurt”? Let’s say it is when someone you trust or have confidence in betray that trust. Examples:
Pastors, leaders manipulated and/or exploited, members manipulated and/or exploited, children manipulated or exploited by a member of the church, divorce between Christians, ministries destroyed by lies, name is disgraced, work is sabotaged, information shared in confidence is shared, mislead by another and the list goes on and on. Many of us may experience these types of things. What makes it different is that it happen in the place where you thought safety existed. Psalm 41:9 Yea, mine own familiar friend, in whom I trusted, which did eat of my bread, hath lifted up his heel against me.

Christians are not exempt from the trials and tests of life.
Peter 4: 12 think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you:13 But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy.

There is no doubt that there are hurting Christians or the walking dead and the emotionally wounded. What do you do with that hurt? First, come to terms that it was people that hurt you, yes, they were people in the church but nevertheless it was people. People are not perfect. Don’t leave God because of what people did.

Psalm 62:8 Trust in him at all times; ye people, pour out your heart before him: God is a refuge for us. Selah. Stop running to everyone else. Don’t turn away but turn to the only one who can help you. Remember, God has not nor will he forsake you. Remember he has promised to lift up the bowed down head, to bind up the wounded spirit and he is able to take your broken pieces and make you whole. He has promised to turn your mourning into dancing. God is able to take what the enemy thought would destroy you and cause it to be the very thing that will make you strong and a force to be reckoned with.

What should our response be to those who are hurting? 1 Samuel 12:22 For the Lord will not forsake His people for His great name’s sake, because it hath pleased the Lord to make you His people.23 Moreover as for me, God forbid that I should sin against the Lord in ceasing to pray for you; but I will teach you the good and the right way.24 Only fear the Lord, and serve Him in truth with all your heart; for consider what great things He hath done for you.

SPEAK THE ANSWER NOT THE PROBLEM. THE ANSWER IS THE WORD OF GOD. Heavenly Father, we come to you on behalf of our brothers and sisters who have experienced hurt in the last place they expected it, in the church. Now they are broken and lost. The enemy wants to destroy them. We cover them with the blood of Jesus and ask you to give them supernatural strength to stand on your promises in your word. No weapon formed against them shall destroy them, you have ordained peace for them, you will give them beauty for their ashes, they shall come forth as pure gold. Surely, they shall rise again as your light shine forth upon them. Your name is a strong tower and they shall run into it. We touch and agree that their eyes will be fixed on you, they will hear your voice and not follow another, ministering angels are released to quickly restore them, you cause them to be refreshed and strengthened in the inner man.

Their time for weeping is over, the morning has broken and brought joy with it. Their mind stays on you and you give them perfect peace, you are perfecting those things concerning them, they receive your word to rejoice, again, I say rejoice. You are bringing them out of this and they shall be stronger and better not bitter. You give them a forgiving heart and they are released from those that would hold them hostage through unforgiveness. You wash them in your word and through your blood, every stain of hurt, pain, and shame is taken away. You cause them to walk in the liberty you have given them. Every reproach is taken away. You are the good shepherd and you are attending to their every need. Now, you prepare a table before their enemies and now you come yourself and anoint their head with oil that all may see just how much you love them. The broken pieces are no more for you have made them completely whole in your love. It is so and so it is in the matchless name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Now, Heavenly Father, I decree and declare on their behalf they are healed physically, mentally, and spiritually in the name of Jesus.

IT SHALL NOT ALWAYS BE LIKE THIS.
