Meditations From the Heart
There is none who understands ......Romans 3:11
No one outside of Christ understands God. No one understands life. No one understands the universe. Many if not all of us at some point in our lives ask the question. "Why am I here?" Why do I exist? No one understands. I am sure all of us at some point in our lives ask ourselves and others, "why me”? Why is this circumstance happening to me? Some commit suicide because they do not understand the circumstances in their lives. Some ask why is there severe poverty in the world. Others question the cause of weather related disasters. No one understands.
No one understands the ways of God. God says in Isaiah 55:8,9: "For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways," says the Lord. V9: "For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways. and My thoughts than your thoughts." We cannot understand God. Neither can we understand the cause of every event nor every circumstance in our lives or in the lives of others. Many today do not understand what is happening currently in the United States in our political arena. Would you want a god that you can fully understand, or one that you can figure out? Then you would be the god, not the one who is the object of your worship.
When we repent and believe the Gospel for our salvation from God's judgement upon sinners, God gives us some understanding of Himself. (For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. Romans 3:23). 1 Corinthians 2:16 reads: For who has known the mind of the Lord that he may instruct Him? But we (believers in Jesus Christ) have the mind of Christ. We have to build upon the understanding God has given us through the Holy Spirit by getting to know Him personally.
When we want to learn of someone, we purpose in our heart to make the effort to know that person. We observe the person’s behavior and we have conversations with the person. We spend time with that person. So it is with God, if we want to understand a little of God's heart, we have to make a conscious effort to get to know Him. We have to read His Word - the Bible, speak to Him in prayer, and listen to His Holy Spirit in our hearts. Having fellowship with God's people, attending church services, will also teach us of God's ways, His grace and His salvation.
If you haven't as yet, repent of your sin and accept the Lord Jesus Christ as your personal Savior. He will enlighten your mind. He will give you understanding.
