Meditations From the Heart
….there is none who seeks after God. Romans 3:11
God does the seeking. God seeks after us. This is why Jesus came to this earth over 2,000 years ago. To seek us out, to redeem us back to our God - His Father and to Himself.
When Adam and Eve sinned against God by disobeying His Command, they hid themselves. God came into the garden and called Adam. Genesis chapter 3. God is still calling men, women, boys and girls today to come to Him – to come and have a relationship with Him. John 3:16
Jesus when He was here on earth said to Zacchaeus in Luke 19:10, "for the Son of man has come to seek and to save that which was lost". The Lord Jesus also said, ….”for I did not come to call the righteous (those who thought they were), but sinners to repentance.” Matthew 9:13
We are all sinners in need of a Savior. That's why Jesus came. Our human nature is at war with God. We want to do what we want, when we want and with whom we want. Our fleshly nature do not want God in our lives. If we are honest with ourselves, we will all admit (sinner and believer alike) that we love to control our own lives.
Psalms 2:1-3 says it best. "Why do the nations rage, and the people plot a vain thing? The kings of the earth set themselves. And the rulers take counsel together, Against the Lord and against His Anointed. saying, Let us break Their bonds in pieces and cast away Their cords from us." Isn't this happening today in this country and around the world? Yes. Humankind has not change.
"All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned everyone to his own way, and the Lord (God the Father) has laid on Him (Jesus Christ) the iniquity of us all." Isa 53:6
Psalm 10:4: The wicked in his proud countenance does not seek God; God is in none of his thoughts. Who are the wicked? The wicked is everyone who refuses to accept the Lord Jesus Christ as his or her personal Savior.
In Matthew 6:33 when Jesus says, “Seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness…..” He was speaking to his disciples (Mathew 5:1,2) on trusting Him for all of their needs. Today these words ring true for the believer in Jesus Christ. Seek God and be anxious for nothing. The just shall live by faith.
For the unbeliever - Isaiah 55:6: Seek the Lord while He may be found, call upon Him while He is near. When God seeks you out, when He calls you through His Holy Spirit, respond to His call as Adam did. Genesis 3:8-10
Today if you will hear His voice, do not harden your hearts.... Heb 3:7, 8
