What Do You Live For? (365 Days of Daring Faith – DAY 48)

Philippians 1:21 (NLT)
For to me, living means living for Christ, and dying is even better.

What does it mean to really live? True living is giving your life away. Happiness comes from genuine service and sacrifice, not selfish gratification. Service and sacrifice break down walls of smugness and pride in our lives and allow Christ to shine through. Until you understand that life is about living in Christ and giving your life in service to Him and others, you will never really live or experience long-lasting happiness.

Paul knew that Christ was His ultimate source. He knew that to be happy, he had to intentionally focus on living for Christ. His purpose, His goal, His highest aim was found in the sacrifice and grace of Jesus. In this life, you will have problems, but you should never allow them to override your purpose.

What do you live for? Is it money? Power? Success? Status? Family? Entertainment? To be recognized and applauded? Or do you live for Christ? Do you relish in His grace and delight in His goodness? Nothing should take first place in your life other than your Creator. God gave you life and He wants you to find it in Him and live it through Him.

True happiness cannot be found outside of Christ. What you choose to live for will determine how much happiness you have. Living totally for anything or anyone else will drain your happiness because things and people do not last forever. Only a life lived for Christ will keep your happiness at the highest level. True living is living for Christ. And living for Christ will result in true happiness.

“God is most glorified in us when we are most satisfied in Him.”
