Jeremiah 17:10 (NLT)
But I, the Lord, search all hearts and examine secret motives. I give all people their due rewards, according to what their actions deserve.
When people go to the hospital for surgery, the doctor often orders an MRI. You know how I know? Because I am one of those many people. An MRI, or an X-ray, reveals what is going on on the inside of one's body. It helps the doctors and nurses find out the problem so they can know what actions to take in order to get the patient back to good health and wellness.
What if God did an MRI of our hearts. What do you think He would find? This is a question you must ask yourself. Matters of the heart are not external journeys, but internal ones. No one can fix the spiritual condition of your heart but you. You have to allow God to do the fixing.
Have you checked your heart lately? What did you find? Did you find that you are self-centered, impatient, unloving, and discontent? Or did you discover that you are filled with joy, abounding in grace, and living in love? What does God find in your heart? Taking inventory of the condition of our hearts will reveal how much we love God, His Word, and other people. It will also tell us where our focus is — ourselves and our agenda or others and their needs.
An MRI of the heart can be done each day. We should willingly undergo such an operation. Ask God to make you more like Him. Surrender your will to His will. Release negativity into His hands. When our hearts are in the right place, we are better able to handle the storms that come our way and receive the blessings that come with trusting on and being obedient to God.
“When we hold our thoughts up against God's standards of what is true and what is real, we can recognize and, with His help, learn to release many of our negative emotions, damaging thoughts, and destructive attitudes.”
