Give Up Your Burdens (365 Days of Daring Faith – DAY 58)

Psalm 55:22 (NLT)
Give your burdens to the Lord, and he will take care of you. He will not permit the godly to slip and fall.

From almost the day we were born, our lives are filled with trouble. We have burdens, and many of them are too big for us to bear. If you don’t have any problems in life, I assure you that you do not live in reality. The problem with our burdens is that we weren’t made to carry them, yet we attempt to live with these huge weights upon our souls and minds.

There is something we should do with our burdens other than carry them. David instructs us to give our burdens to the Lord. David, the great king of Israel, had troubles all around him. His mind was often perplexed and his soul often ached for his enemies, for his people, and for himself. But David learned something that we would do well to learn too. God didn’t call us to bear our own burdens; He urges us to give them up to him.

God has promised to sustain us and hold us up when we feel like we’re falling. He has strength that we can only think about. He has solutions to problems that we would never figure out in a million years. He has incomprehensible comfort for our broken hearts and amazing grace for our worried and weary lives. One of the greatest things you can ever do is stop trying to sort it all out and give it over to God.

You don’t have to work hard at it. You don’t have to approach God a certain way or be a special person. God promises to not let us be moved if we would only turn all our burdens, cares, and worries over to Him. Trust the promises of God. Every situation that feels difficult, give it up. Every struggle that is painful, give it up. God wants you to trust Him and He will deliver you if you only give everything over to Him.
