Top Brain Games to Boost Mind Power

Mental exercises to brains are like the push-ups and crunches to your body. They stimulate the brain chemicals and keep the brain charged to enhance your productivity. One of the most interesting ways to boost your mind power is to play brain games. Below is a list of powerful brain games designed by Dr. Cynthia Green, assistant clinical professor of psychiatry of Mount Sinai school of Medicine. These games are a part of her brain-booster lifestyle program called “Brainpower Game Plan”.

1. Name your colors

Designed to improve your focus, it’s a very simple game with powerful results. You would simply need to look at the sheet & read out the color of each word. Do it twice a day for faster results.

2. In just 7 words

This particular game is great to hone up your creative skill. It’s an interesting task where you have to mug up a story in 7 words.

3. Get the picture?

If you want to test and improve your memory, this is a cool game for you. It also helps you to work on your attention span. The game is simple. You will have a photograph dotted with several objects. You would have 1 second to observe it and then you will note whatever you remember from the picture. It’s natural to miss out on a large number of objects in the first turn. Look at it another time and see if you improve.

4. Find it

You will be given a table of multiple symbols. On top of the table, you will have 3 symbols. Your task would be to find the symbols from the table and note down their counts. These skills games require lots of practice.

5. Opposite Day

When we activate the non-dominant parts, it helps to create new connections in between brain cells. So, if the right hand is your dominant hand, why not try working with the left one for a while? It would be fun and a completely new experience. Most importantly, it will energize the brain cells a step further.

6. Count Backward

Remember the backward counting lessons that we used to do in our elementary classes? Well, those were excellent brainstorming activities and you can apply them now as well. The game comprises of 3 steps.
The first step will begin at 200. Then you will start counting backward but by subtracting “five” every time. So, the counting will be like this- 200, 195, then 190, followed by 185 and so on.

The second step will begin at 150. Then you will start counting backward but by subtracting “seven” every time. So, the counting will be like this- 150, 143, then 136 and so on.

The third step will begin at 100. Then you will start counting backward but by subtracting “three” every time. So, the counting will be like this- 100, 97, then 94 and so on.

7. Project Notes

This game is all about note taking whenever you are in a stressful or tensed situation. It could be when you are talking to your attorney or doctor. It will help you to have a written document of vital points so that you don’t have to burden your memory.
