Actress Jada Pinkett-Smith told Essence Magazine in an interview that the public scrutiny following her marriage to Rapper-turned-Actor Will Smith is similar to the trials of Biblical figure Job.
"Sometimes God puts things in your way so that you get a real understanding. It's like Job: Let me test your faith in me," she responded.
Rumors have been circulating since last year that the pair who have been married since 1997 were headed for a divorce.
Will and Jada reportedly have an open marriage where they are allowed to pursue attractions with other people. Will told Reveal magazine in a 2008 interview, "Our perspective is, you don't avoid what's natural and you're going to be attracted to people."
Additionally rumors claimed that they were arguing about parenting their singer/ actor children, Willow and Jaden.
Jada and Will have made many public appearances together on the red carpet and in shops. But the sightings have not silenced the gossip.
When asked if she was bitter, Jada told Essence, "No. Because here's the thing. Think about how blessed I am. Like, that's part of the laws of the universe.
"Put yourself in my shoes for one moment. The magnitude of the blessings that I've been given. Sometimes God puts things in your way so that you get a real understanding. It's like Job: Let me test your faith in me.
"And so for me, it was a really beautiful moment of me being very clear, very, very very clear about everything in my world."
Jada told the magazine that she and husband Will are not getting divorced.
